Wetherspoon Recognises the Value of Service Leavers
More and more employers are looking to the ex-military talent pool in order to fill their job vacancies, recognising the vast array of transferrable skills held by many of those who have served in the Armed Forces.

A recent article published on the Wetherspoon website highlights this in the story of former CTP client Steve Saxton, who, having been medically discharged from the Army after serving for 22 years, went on to complete a work placement with Wetherspoon and now works as shift manager for the company.

Steve says, “I loved every minute of [the work placement], but thought, because of my medical history and 22 years just as a private in the army, that it wouldn’t happen for me. It has, which just goes to prove that rank and disability are no barriers to success at Wetherspoon.”

Laura Purvis, Wetherspoon’s recruitment manager, said: “We encourage recruitment of ex-service personnel and actively promote employment opportunities at Wetherspoon to people leaving the forces.”

Wetherspoon was established in 1979 and in 2011 opened its 800th pub – with new pubs opening across the country, they seek committed staff to contribute to their commitment to running great pubs.
