Teaching in Cornwall – online information session for graduates If you’re hard-working, creative, energetic and committed to inspiring and making a difference to the next generation, then we’d love to meet you!

A bit about who we are

Kernow Initial Teacher Education (KITE) is an initial teacher education provider with over a decade of experience. We’re well known for ensuring that our future teachers receive outstanding training from experienced experts, and are committed to ensuring that our trainees receive first class support on a professional and personal level, from application through to employment.

Our new programmes

From September 2024, we’ll be working in partnership with the National Institute of Teaching (NIoT) to offer two primary PGCE with QTS teacher training programmes, across Cornwall:

Primary: 3-7 years
Primary: 5-11 years

Applicants will need to have GCSE grade C/4 or above in English, Maths and Science, as well as a 2:2 Degree Class or above, before they start the programme. These are full time programmes and applicants are eligible to apply for student finance.

How it works

Sonya Herbert, the KITE Programme Lead, will facilitate an information session and explain the content and structure of the programme. She’ll cover how school placements are organised and the types of support that you’ll receive. There will also be guidance and lots of useful tips on how to apply and how you can best prepare for your interview.

We have a long-standing ethos of growing our own teachers, and all colleagues within the Kernow Learning family are committed to supporting trainees on their journey. Every school we work with has a vested interest in ensuring that trainees become the best they can be; which is why many of our past trainees are now employed either with us or by their placement school, and a large number are involved in the KITE programme as a mentor or subject lead.

Key information

Timings and date of Sonya’s event: Wednesday 24th April 2024 at 18:00 – 19:00
