Resettlement Success: From Army life to a civilian career at Gallowglass

Moving from a role in the Armed Forces to one in the civilian world can sometimes be a daunting process. But luckily, there are options available to help ease this transition.

John Moore served as an Infantry soldier in the Army before making the transition to work for Gallowglass Group as a Crewman. John found that travelling over the world and creating bonds with new people was the most rewarding part of being in the Army, but missed his family and friends.

Having gained a fork lift licence during his time in the Armed Forces, John was well prepared for his new role at Gallowglass.

When asked what advice he would give other Service leavers, he said:

"If you are looking for something similar to the Army then Gallowglass is pretty close to it. It’s getting up early, getting up late and sometimes not knowing what you’re walking into. A lot of hard work, both mental and physical. The banter at Gallowglass and all the lads are great, including the people in the office who will always try their best to help you out. Coming out of the Army in to civilian life is always hard and always will be but for me I would definitely recommend Gallowglass as a company."
