In the Right Lane – A career with Arriva Southern Counties

In the Right Lane – A career with Arriva Southern Counties As a reservist, I’ve worked with Arriva Southern Counties for 3 months and counting. With a background of 6 years serving in the RLC, REME and RMP, I’ve found that all my prior military experience has been of great use at Arriva.

The skills that I’ve learnt from my reserve service such as time-keeping, initiative and attention to detail have greatly benefitted me at Arriva. In addition to this, Arriva Southern Counties prides itself on nurturing and growing its personnel, something which I have experienced in my short time here.

Whilst it may be a bit of a cliché, at Arriva Southern Counties, no two working days or even shifts are ever alike. One duty could see you driving a coach full of commuters into the heart of the capital, the next day driving children to and from school. The one thing that is constant, is the important role you could provide in enabling people to get around and live their lives. This is especially important for people who lack the ability or means to get around by other means. It’s a great feeling to know that you are making a real difference to people’s lives.

The roles that are available revolve largely around driving and engineering and we are always on the lookout for highly motivated individuals to join us.

If you are interested in driving for Arriva Southern Counties but do not hold a category D licence, that is not a problem. Arriva can put you through a trainee driver programme that will gain you your Category D licence at no-cost to yourself. If you do possess a Category D licence already, we would be extremely interested in hearing from you.

With engineering, a background in automotive and/or mechanical engineering is desirable. The roles available include vehicle mechanics, fitters and vehicle electricians amongst other related roles.

As an Armed Forces Covenant employer we are committed to the following:
  • Support the employment of veterans by working with military resettlement organisations to establish tailored employment pathways and training for men and women who leave the services.
  • Support the employment of ex-Service personnel by offering a guaranteed interview for suitable vacancies providing minimum requirements are met.
  • Support our employees who choose to be members of the Reserve forces by accommodating their training and deployment where possible.

If this appeals to you or you wish to find out more, please don’t hesitate to contact us via the details below.

So why not get in the driving seat and join Arriva today?
