Opportunities at Engage Technical Solutions We work predominately on projects within Defence, and are an Armed Forces Covenant Gold award winner for our work with veterans. We currently have a wide variety of roles available, including: Project/Programme/Portfolio Manager, Operations Manager, Supply Chain Manager and Technical Through Life Support Engineers.

Roles are based on levels, determined by experience, and we’re currently recruiting for level’s 2-5 for each role.

Qualifications

  • For Project Managers we require you to be Prince2/APM qualified or equivalent.
  • For Operations Managers there is no specific qualification needed, but it is essential that you have experience working in a delivery environment, at an operational level, within a large organisation - (Project/Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Total Through Life Support, Commercial)
  • For Technical Through Life Support Engineers, we look for BTEC L3/L4, ONC/HNC or an equivalent level of experience. Working towards membership of a professional institution, e.g. Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) at Eng Tech or IEng level. Achievement of mandated internal MOD TTLS Qualification – TTLS Expert Skills Certificate (available via the Defence Learning Portal – Defence Gateway).

  • From an Armed Forces background - preferably within Engineering or Supply Chain Management.
  • Have experience in working in DE&S or a HQ - although this is not required at lower levels.
  • Strong communication skills; able to communicate effectively with stakeholders regardless of position.
  • Good problem solving skills and the ability to adapt.

    "Chief Petty Officer Engineering Technician (Weapons Engineer) or CPOET(WE)"
  3. What is your role at Engage?
    "As an ILS Practitioner, I address a wide range of support processes in an integrated manner for defence projects, including: reviewing and refining technical documentation, recommending alterations or improvements through reliability and supportability analysis, and using my engineering experience in compliance with current legislation to ultimately minimise equipment whole life costs."
  4. What relevant military experience helped you attain that role?
    "Naval Applicator / Equipment Authority for ARTISAN Radar System at DE&S – with experience of utilising a range of engineering disciplines across a variety of sensory and communication systems."
  5. What courses did you take during resettlement that you felt helped you towards your new role?
    "ILS Practitioner; Contract Management; Commercial Awareness and APM (BOK7) courses through Defence Learning Environment; and Professional accreditation (IEng) through IET."
  6. How have you found the transition from military to civilian life, and how does it feel to work at Engage?
    "The transition from the Royal Navy to Engage was smooth and very welcoming. Within them I have found an intellectually challenging and career-defining role. With their support, I can develop on both a personal and professional scale whilst maintaining strategic objectives and delivering sustainable results. I am delighted to be a part of the team."

Pete Fenwick

  1. What service were you in and how long did you serve?
    "Army, 25 years."
  2. What was your role/cap badge?
    "Artificer Sergeant Major (ASM) Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers."
  3. What is your role at Engage?
    "Engineer Consultant, fulfilling a level 2 Operations Manager role within Warrior Vehicle Support Team. I’m primarily responsible for overseeing and progressing Post Design Services."
  4. What relevant military experience helped you attain that role? "I feel that my former role as an ASM has set me in good stead to manage multiple activities which, I believe, is the essence of Operations Management. But this isn’t the only experience I draw from. My time working directly with those responsible for repairing and maintaining Warrior has also proven to be useful, and has allowed me to bring ‘real world’ experience to an organisation which, in some instances, relies heavily on concept."
  5. What courses did you take during resettlement that you felt helped you towards your new role?
    "BSc (Hons) Engineering Management; professional recognition as an Incorporated Engineer with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (ImechE); and the suite of training available on the Defence Learning Environment (ILS, TTLS, Human Factors)."
  6. How have you found the transition from military to civilian life, and how does it feel to work at Engage?
    "Engage really helped me transition to civilian life, and the familiarity of the work I’m currently involved with has helped me hit the ground running. I enjoy working in Engage, and the role I’m currently in gives plenty of autonomy while also offering support whenever needed."
