Aim of the Course 
To equip Service leavers with a ‘threshold licence to teach’ in the Lifelong Learning Sector i.e. adult and community education, work-based learning and the voluntary sector, and to function with confidence in these environments.

Course Content 
The course aims to develop confidence and competence in teaching people over the age of 16. The main topics are:
  • The key principles of teaching and learning
  • Planning and preparing sessions
  • Practical teaching skills
  • Organising courses.
You will be assessed throughout the course by a mixture of short theoretical and practical tasks (14 in total).

Qualifications Awarded 
EDEXCEL Level 3/4 BTEC Award in Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector.

Employment Opportunities 
These qualifications should enable successful candidates to gain positions in the Further Education environment and with civilian training establishments.

The College library has a vast range of books applicable for this course and indeed, candidates will be expected to show wider reading when completing their assignments.

If this is not possible or the alternative(s) is/are not acceptable to the Service leaver, Right Management, who deliver all non-contract courses listed, may refund in full the total amount paid to date for non-contract funded courses, or, in the case of MOD Contract Funded courses, in agreement with the MOD, the Service leavers IRTC grant will not be notionally reduced.
