Aim of the Course 
The course is aimed at individuals who already have a technical background, combined with H&S knowledge. The qualification focuses on international standards and management systems, enabling students to effectively discharge workplace safety responsibilities both onshore and offshore.

Course Content 
  • Element 1:
    Health, safety and environmental management in context 1.1 Learning from incidents 1.2 Hazards inherent in oil and gas 1.3 Risk management techniques used in the oil and gas industries 1.4 Safety cases and safety reports.
  • Element 2:
    Hydrocarbon Process Safety 1 2.1 Contractor management 2.2 Process safety management 2.3 Role and purpose of Permit to Work 2.4 Key principles of safe shift handover 2.5 Plant operations and maintenance 2.6 Start up and shut down.
  • Element 3:
    Hydrocarbon Process Safety 2 3.1 Failure modes 3.2 Safety critical equipment controls 3.3 Safe storage of hydrocarbons 3.4 Furnace and boiler operations.
  • Element 4:
    Fire protection and emergency response 4.1 Fire explosion risk in the oil and gas industries 4.2 Emergency Response.
  • Element 5:
    Logistics and Transport Operations 5.1 Marine Transport 5.2 Land Transport.

This course is held at RRC Rosyth and delivered by CCS Training.


Qualifications Awarded 
NEBOSH International Technical Certificate in Oil & Gas Operational Safety.

Every effort will be made to give the Service leaver as much notice as possible and a reasonable course alternative or alternatives may be suggested, if possible. If this is not possible or the alternative(s) is/are not acceptable to the Service leaver, Right Management, who deliver all non-contract courses listed, may refund in full the total amount paid to date for non-contract funded courses, or, in the case of MOD Contract Funded courses, in agreement with the MOD, the Service leavers IRTC grant will not be notionally reduced.
