CTP Training - helping Service leavers take the plunge into entrepreneurship

Once you’ve made the decision to pursue a career in self-employment, it’s reassuring to know that there’s support and insight available to help get you started. We recently had the pleasure of speaking with Victoria MacBrayne, ex-RAF and now successfully running her own art business – www.tartancrab.co.uk.

Victoria attended our 1-day Self-Employment Awareness workshop to explore the basics of setting up her own business and looking at her next steps. She also completed our Start your own Online Business course, designed and uniquely tailored for Service leavers managing or hoping to manage their own business:

“The CTP’s self-employment awareness, CV writing and financial aspects of resettlement workshops all provided me with handy hints and tips to prepare for my future.

"I also undertook the CTP’s ‘start your own online business’ vocational training course. Not only was it a good course filled with excellent advice on building and getting the most out of a website, but it also gave me the confidence to believe in starting my art business and introduced me to some lovely likeminded friends who I’m still in contact with today.

"As a result, I was able to use my resettlement leave to prepare for my first exhibition at the Brick Lane Gallery in London, just last month. I updated my website to increase my business’ visibility beforehand, using the lessons taught on the self-employment course; and I’m pleased to say that the exhibition was a huge success where my art and brand were viewed by thousands of attendees.”
