Is Your RightJob Profile Up to Date?

Remember we can't match you with appropriate vacancies if your RightJob profile doesn't accurately reflect your career aspirations. Make sure you've completed every section of your profile to ensure you don't miss out on hearing about suitable opportunities!

When you log in to RightJob, click on the Profile tab to review the information we have recorded about you:

The Skills and Preferences tab is one of the most important sections to complete. This is where you tell us about any skills and license you hold, along with your desired location and desired industry. Employment Consultants match Service leavers with suitable vacancies using these criteria, so make sure they reflect you correctly. Although it might be tempting to select all options under the 'Desired Industry' tab, only choose those that you realistically want to work in.

We'll also send you emails about forthcoming events related to your desired industries and locations, so make sure they're correct to ensure we don't send you unwanted information.

Complete the Qualifications section to show your academic, vocational and other qualifications, plus any languages you speak.

Upload your CVs. Don't forget, it's vital to target your CV for each job you apply to. Remember to label each CV carefully before you upload it to RightJob, to avoid mistakes. For example, 'John Smith CV - Fuctional Engineering'. You can send your CV to your Career Consultant for checking - simply click on the 'Send for Review' button and it will be emailed directly to them.

Are you ready to write your Career Profile? If you are confident in your writing style and if you have reviewed your CV with your Career Consultant, you can choose to add a short paragraph about yourself and your career achievements so far. Review the example profiles before you get started, and use the 'Send for Review' button to email your completed profile to your Career Consultant for checking.

Plus, make sure your Personal Information is up to date:

  • Check that your contact details are correct.
  • Is your email address professional? The email address you use for cover letters and applications is often the first thing a prospective employer will notice about you, so make sure it is suitable. A good protocol to follow is: Your first name or initial, followed by your last name; for example: [email protected] or [email protected]
  • Make sure your available working date is correct. Remember, this might not be your actual discharge date; could you use terminal leave to start a civilian job any earlier?
  • Choose which job types you're interested in hearing about. A work placement or temporary role could be a good way to get a foot in the door, so don't rule out these types.
  • Make sure your expected salary is realistic. Remember, lots of companies offer annual bonuses or other benefits to enhance the basic salary.

Have you checked the 'Display my anonymous profile' box? By checking this box, your anonymous profile may be viewed by an employer. This will increase your exposure to the employment market. Only employers who have been vetted by the CTP will be offered this facility, and recruitment agencies will never be able to view your profile.

Your Career Consultant will be happy to provide guidance on any aspect of your RightJob profile.
