How exactly do recruiters use LinkedIn?
With LinkedIn being the world’s largest professional networking site, there’s no surprise that recruiters consider it to be a goldmine for talent sourcing. But how exactly do they use LinkedIn when looking for candidates? And what can you do to ensure you get noticed?

Having the answers to these questions can help ensure you know how to create an impactful profile that recruiters will remember.

Here are 4 ways recruiters use LinkedIn:

Advanced people searches Recruiters regularly use the Advanced People Search tool to find the right candidates for specific roles, based on carefully selected keywords and filters. So, to ensure you rank highly in their search results, optimise your profile with keywords that are relevant to the roles and industry you’re interested in.

Announcing job openings on group pages Posting job openings on group pages is another common practice for recruiters. So, by searching for recruiters who serve your profession or industry and joining the groups they’re members of, you’ll never miss an opportunity and can always be one of the first to apply – getting your foot in the door early, so to speak.

Post vacancies on company pages Recruiters will also often post select openings on company pages to reach people who’ve already shown an interest in that organisation. To benefit from this practice, all you need to do is follow the company pages you’re interested in and you’ll be one of the first to know of a new opening – helping you get ahead of the competition.

Sharing info via status updates Arguably the simplest way recruiters use LinkedIn is using their status updates to spread the word of a vacancy. So, by connecting with and developing a relationship with recruiters on LinkedIn, you can ensure relevant job openings appear directly in your updates feed – making applying for roles as easy as can be.
