Supporting Anthony Abbott on his resettlement journey

Tony Abbott left the Army after serving for over 22 years, as he felt the time was right to embark on a new chapter of his career - and the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) were more than happy to offer invaluable resettlement support every step of the way.
"I gained my literacy and numeracy level 2, as well as my diploma in strategic management during my time in the Army. What the military courses do is provide you with the tools to convert what you have learnt into something you can use in civilian life."
Resettlement
Once registered with the CTP, Tony attended a 3-day Career Transition Workshop (CTW) and established a good working relationship with the team at his local resettlement centre.
"I attended a CTW and various online webinars, all of which were very helpful and informative. The team at Tidworth are all there to help you no matter if they themselves are busy."
Tony then goes on to talk about the CTP website, and how his CTP Career Consultant, Annette Haslett, was an invaluable source of support throughout his career transition:
"Annette was the best – very helpful and always there to provide the best advice she could. An email here and there was sent and I always got a response. Her knowledge is immense and she’s always so approachable.
"The CTP website is also a very good site and easy to navigate. myPlan was a good tool in helping me plan what I needed to do, and how to go about doing it."
Successful Outcome
We’re pleased to share that Tony is now a Training Analyst with Cubic Defence UK:
"A friend who works in the company contacted me and I was invited to conduct an interview over Zoom. As a Training Analyst I now use many of the skills developed through my time in the military on a daily basis"
Advice
As a final piece of advice to fellow Service leavers, Tony says:
"Don’t be worried. It’s a big world out there and you’ll have skills taught to you that companies in the civilian world are craving. Showcase your loyalty and trustworthiness, and you’ll go far."
