Army Corporal to Class 1 Driver

Category: Success Stories Publish date: 26/07/2019

Army Corporal to Class 1 Driver I left the Army after 12 years of service to look for my next challenge. Leaving the Army was a worrying time for me as this is what I had done from the age of 16, straight after finishing school. I wanted a new challenge as this is the mentality that I have.

Driving is something that I enjoy doing, so I chose to go into a driving career at Class 1, as I had gained my licences in the Army. Once I left the Army, I went straight into driving tanks as I felt this would be a challenging rewarding job role with a lot of responsibility. Haulage Services Ltd (the bulk transport division of Woodside Logistics Group), has given me a very rewarding job with a lot of responsibilities, helping me to settle into civilian life a lot easier than had expected.

I have been employed for nine months now, and I’m enjoying my time with this company. They have a lot of time for you, are always helpful and give you training on all the different roles within the company.

Being a Haulage Services Driver, I have the same pride that I had in the Army wearing my uniform. It’s no different working here.

Being a Haulage Services driver, I have a lot of responsibility, but this is what keeps me motivated - performing to a high standard each day that I come to work.

Driving to different customers each day and loading across a range of different sites keeps me motivated. My new career with Haulage Services is enjoyable and I’m looking forward to progressing further within the company - learning new things each day.
