Woods Air Movement is looking for Field Technicians Woods Air Movement (WAM) is a world leading provider of large ventilation and smoke extraction fans. Our factory in Colchester, Essex, produces more than 50,000 fans a year and our equipment is installed in tunnels and iconic buildings, globally.

In response to our Service Business Unit rapidly expanding, we’re looking to bring in new talent to our Field Service Engineering team. We fully understand and respect the excellent technical skills training, teamwork qualities and discipline that Service leavers bring to the business.

It’s no surprise then that several successful WAM employees, including our Health & Safety Manager and Fan Test, are also ex-military.

A bit about the role on offer

A short placement is available and successful applicants will be given full factory-based training across several months, as well as the opportunity to shadow experienced colleagues in the field. After training and a 6-month probation, the following job description would apply:

Main purpose of the role:

Working as part of the Service Business Unit, you’ll attend customer motor driven fan installations, internationally, to ensure satisfactory performance through measuring, maintaining, repairing and diagnosing causes of mechanical and electrical performance and reliability issues.



Main duties & responsibilities:

  • In many cases, you’ll be the sole representative of Woods Air Movement in the presence of customers on their premises.
  • Measurements and actions to ensure the electrical and mechanical health and performance of the motor.
  • Measurements and actions to ensure the mechanical condition and performance of the static and rotating assemblies.
  • Complete site surveys for the purpose of quoting spare parts requirements and service activities.
  • Liaising with expert colleagues as required.
  • Report writing and feeding technical findings and advice back into the Woods and customers organisations.
  • Actively promote spares and Service solutions.

Who we’re looking for:

Individuals with experience in hands-on technical trades, such as vehicle repairs, maintenance or buildings facilities.
