About our business

Our Smart Buildings business makes some of the most iconic buildings come to life. We design, install, monitor, maintain and optimise building control systems. As part of SSE’s Distributed Energy division, we’re responsible for developing solutions for smart places – cities, campuses and buildings.

We help clients achieve optimised working environments which then lead to reductions in buildings’ energy consumption; and we achieve this through the installation and maintenance of a variety of building control technologies, including Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS), as well as the application of data analytics to provide building performance insights.

We’re one of the largest BEMS suppliers in the UK, a top 3 Honeywell Trend Technology Partner, and the first Siemens Master Partner in the UK.

Working alongside our colleagues in SSE Distributed Energy, we provide some of the most critical building control and energy generation services required by a Zero Carbon world – enabling commercial and public sector customers to achieve their sustainability targets. In addition to building control technologies, our smart energy infrastructure solutions include:

  • Solar PV
  • Battery storage
  • Heat networks
  • Private electrical networks
  • Electric vehicle charging infrastructure

What are the roles?

As part of our growth plans, we’re looking to increase our Sales and Engineering capabilities. We want people who can bring big ideas, new skills and innovative thinking to help us build a world that's more sustainable and inclusive for you, your family, and the community you live in.

We have opportunities to join us across the whole of the UK, where you’ll be at the centre of our drive to bring smart energy and smart building solutions to market.

Support Engineers undertake management and technical analysis of all BEMS and on-site control systems. They provide accurate fault diagnosis and work with our client’s engineering teams to develop remedial responses to failures and optimise working environments.

Commissioning Engineers install building control infrastructure, bringing systems to life in landmark projects as we continue to shape buildings of the future.

Whichever role you’re interested in, our experience of working with Service leavers has taught us that there isn’t any one size fits all approach to employee training. Which is why we offer an Accelerated Training Programme designed to support your unique, personal training requirements.

Plus, there are also a number of excellent courses offered by CTP which can help you to prepare for an engineering career in building controls.

We’re proud to celebrate difference and strive to create a friendly and inclusive culture where you can be yourself. We take pride in a job well done and share the belief that an inclusive culture is key to our success and vision for the future.
