Why would Service leavers be a good fit for the organisation?

We have several Service leavers already in our business, and they’ve all excelled in their roles. This is a great opportunity to work in an organised, supportive environment where you can realise your potential for personal growth outside of HM Forces.

But don’t just take our word for it, hear from some of our colleagues:

Geoff O’Donoghue - Group Electrical Services Director

“On leaving the Army I had several different roles, including security. I then went back to the family business and qualified as an electrician. I’ve worked for several companies and been self-employed.

"In the last 5 years however, I’ve moved into building services & currently hold the role of Group Electrical Services Director, where I’m responsible for electrical services across the Mecsia group, ensuring electrical compliance of the buildings we look after as well as any repairs needed.”

Matthew Bull - Contracts Manager

“I Served in the British army for 6 years in The Royal Engineers Until 2012. I joined Acorn directly after my time in the military, having approached them prior and secured a role within the company.

"Acorn really supported me in my transition to “civvy street”. I completed an ‘on the job’ assessment over a period of weeks while integrated with established engineers. This enabled
Acorn to gauge my ability and skill levels, whilst simultaneously helping me to adjust and transfer my skills to my new role.

"Since joining Acorn, they’ve helped me to go from strength to strength by providing a clear path of progression. I’ve now been with Acorn for many years since leaving the military and hope for many more years of service to come.”
