Category: Recruitment Publish date: 31/03/2020

Irwin Mitchell – Opportunities Nationwide We’re a national law firm with a local reach. We offer legal services to individuals and businesses, and support people with their finances, wealth and asset management. Our strategic pillars guide us in everything we do: colleagues, clients and communities.

Our philosophy is ‘Expert Hand, Human Touch’ – something you’ll find in the way we work with our clients and how we support our team.

We’re more than just a law firm – we’re a group of people working together to help individuals and businesses navigate life’s ups and downs. We help individuals with the likes of family law, buying a house and personal injury, and businesses with their banking and finance, employment, and commercial interests. We also help people with their wealth and asset management, whether they’re looking to invest now or plan for the future.

Job opportunities

It takes more than just lawyers to make a law firm succeed, and people often don’t realise just how many non-legal jobs there are behind the scenes. We have departments across IT Services, Sales & Marketing, Human Resources, Accounting and Business Development. There are even roles supporting our lawyers through our helpline.

We’re looking for veterans and Service leavers like you to join our growing teams across 15 offices in the UK. We currently have roles in:
  • Business admin
  • IT – as a developer, analyst, project manager or in client experience
  • HR advisory roles
  • Business development
  • Personal assistance and legal secretary
  • Customer support.

  • To be pioneering with an imaginative outlook
  • To be approachable and caring
  • To be tenacious in the pursuit of our objectives
  • To be efficient in the provision of our services
  • To work with a foundation of integrity.
As a veteran or Service leaver, we think the following skills will help you in a role with us:
  • Strong communicator
  • Great leader
  • Demonstrating resilience
  • Showing excellent project management skills.
If this sounds like you, we’d love to receive your application.

Whichever team you join, when working here you’ll feel a part of our friendly and inclusive environment. We’ll value you for who you are and what you bring. We support each other and push boundaries to achieve incredible things, making a real difference to our clients and communities.

Why join us?

Through joining us, you’ll benefit from a supportive environment where you can grow your career. We also offer 25 days’ holiday per year, a great recognition scheme, health and wellbeing initiatives, and many lifestyle benefits for all employees, including flexible working and dress for your day.

Our social responsibility programme is fundamental to who we are. We’re committed to being a diverse and inclusive workplace where our colleagues can flourish. We have a range of groups to celebrate our people across sexuality, disability, age, gender and culture.

In everything we do, our aim is to be one step ahead. We’re known for our curiosity and commitment to understanding our colleagues, clients and communities. Our pioneering and agile mind-set will turn our curiosity into value and create extraordinary experiences.

The work we do has been recognised in the awards we’ve won. We’ve been recognised for our diversity by Signature Awards, and we were voted into The Times’ inaugural list of the best 200 law firms in England and Wales. We’re committed to being even better, and our awards help to show we’re on the right track.

Case study

Mark Gilbertson, Head of Resourcing, joined us after serving in the military as an Infantry Captain. He offered us an insight into making the change to civilian life:

“The transition from the forces to civilian life is difficult. However, the team here value the skills, experiences and ‘attitude to work’ that Service leavers bring with them – and there are lots of different roles available, from those in IT, HR, and Marketing, to those on the legal side.

The benefits package, holidays and career opportunities are great, as is the excellent approach to flexible working. We also have a very good Reservist Policy to allow those remaining in the Reserves to meet their commitments with ease.”
