Introducing Capita Selborne

Category: Recruitment Publish date: 07/11/2023

Introducing Capita Selborne Capita is dedicated to recruiting, training and retraining the right personnel for the UK's armed forces. That’s why we’re part of Project Selborne, and we’re leading the way.

The project brings together world class, hi-tech organisations, in partnership with the Royal Navy, to modernise education and shore-based training for sailors and marines. This wide-scale, twelve-year transformation of Royal Navy training started in 2020 and is worth £1 billion.

Our teams are using technology to build immersive experiences and better prepare sailors for the front line. We’re building modern apprenticeships, creating a better training culture and delivering a modernised centre of learning for submariners.

As part of this team, you’ll be helping to develop the future workforce of the Royal Navy.

About our roles

We have a wide variety of permanent and fixed term roles, at all levels, across the programme, which include:

The Royal Navy Submarine Training Centre (RNSTC)

By the end of 2025, we will have delivered a modernised centre of learning excellence for submariners. We’ll be moving learning services from the south coast to a single, integrated submarine operating base at HMNB Clyde in Scotland. The centre will house 60 specially designed classrooms to inspire and motivate the 600 submariners who pass through each year.

As a result, over the next two years we’ll be looking to fill a number of roles within our specialist team, including in facilities management, admin, business support, quality assurance, training instruction and more – so be sure to head over to CTP RightJob today!

Hear from our people

After 15 years in the Royal Navy, Lisa Evans transitioned to civilian life and wanted to continue working within international defence training. Her first-hand experience as a single mum at sea meant she knew how important training was in finding someone with the right experience to replace you when you return to shore. Now, she’s an Enabling Services Manager at the Royal Navy Submarine Training Centre (RNSTC):

“I’m involved in the planning and delivery of 1,500 different Royal Navy training courses and I’m also working on transitioning training delivery from HMS Raleigh to HMNB Clyde. I love the flexibility and freedom that working with a great team affords me, and that I’m still working with uniformed peers. We pull together to get the job done, no matter how challenging it can be.”

Over 23 years, Graham ‘Roy’ Rogers enjoyed a rewarding career in the Royal Navy Submarine Service. Today, he works for Capita supporting the delivery of the Royal Navy Submarine Training Centre (RNSTC). In his role, he leads a team of expert defence trainers and simulator support staff, and ensures support is provided for all Phase 1 and 2 courses in the school:

“I’ve been fortunate enough to stay close to my passion for the last 17 years as a civilian. The new RNSTC is becoming an exciting reality. To work in a state-of-the-art training facility offers a great working environment and an opportunity to play a significant part in the training of future submariners.”
