From Infanteer to Retail Support Engineer

Category: Recruitment Publish date: 02/08/2021

From Infanteer to Retail Support Engineer We’re experienced in working with a wide variety of in-store media, to the highest compliance standards within challenging timescales. Permanent POP, temporary POS, shop-in-shop, window displays, vinyl & graphics, pop-up shops and digital media are all within our remit.

Operating across many different countries, our team are accustomed to working with high-profile customers and managing delivery within service level agreements. Each installation has to meet the same quality standards and comply fully with local regulations – there is no margin for error.

Leading retail brands trust us to bring their campaigns to life, in-store. We tailor our display installation programmes to the dynamics of your business. If you need the installation to take place outside store opening hours to minimise disruption, or a rollout plan that prioritises certain global locations first, we’ve got you covered.

We’re proud of our display installation teams – they’re highly trained, technically skilled and experienced in every type of retail environment. Familiar with procedures at major shopping centres and airports across the world, we have installers certified to work at height and carry a range of other health and safety accreditations needed to work in retail’s most demanding outlets.

Meet Ryan, one of our Retail Support Engineers:

“My name is Ryan and I served 16 years in the infantry with 5th Rifles, based in Paderborn, Germany. I also served in Iraq and Afghanistan. I’m now a Retail Support Engineer for the 100% Group where I support retailers by fixing or replacing mobile handsets, tablets and electronic devices on display.

"I was looking for a role that involved working out-and-about, not stuck in an office; a role that was hands-on, working with tools and fixing things. So when they described the role in the job interview I knew it was exactly what I was looking for, and something that would best suit my skills.

"A typical day would see me driving from home to a retail park, carrying out proactive and reactive maintenance to displays that included mobile phones, tablets and the associated brackets and sales posters. I might make four or five visits, send pictures of the repairs from my mobile to the office, and have my work for the next day sent back to me. I might visit the office once a month for training or meeting other team members from across the UK, but mostly I work from remotely.

"I really like the one-team family vibe here at 100% Group. As well as field-based roles, 100% have project management and logistic / warehouse roles at their HQ in Manchester.”
