We are recruiting for HGV drivers nationally. Veolia has one of the largest fleets in the UK, which continues to grow. Our drivers can work as part of a small team or on their own, serving local communities and making a positive impact every day. As a driver at Veolia, you will have career stability, reliable hours and do rewarding work.

We have full-time hours available to suit your lifestyle, including the opportunity to earn overtime at attractive rates. You will be entitled to a generous paid holiday, have access to our people’s pension, and various comprehensive training.

As a driver at Veolia, we will train you to complete your recycling and waste collection rounds safely and effectively. Your typical day starts and ends at your local depot, where you will pick up any special instructions and check your vehicle. During the day, you’ll work with your crew, managing your own time to complete the work and leave all collection areas clean and tidy. If you have any problems during the round, you will be able to contact the depot for management assistance.

Our drivers meet a very high standard of skill and compliance with driving regulations. As part of our team, you will receive regular training to maintain and enhance your professional ability.

What skills/experience is required?

Experienced HGV drivers: You will need to have your Category C licence and be driver CPC qualified (but if your DCPC has lapsed, we can help with that). You will also need great time management and previous driving experience.

Newly qualified drivers: Got your Category C licence but need experience and/or your DCPC? Join us and get on the job training and mentoring to get your driving career off to a flying start.

Looking for a new career? If you want to train as a Category C licence HGV driver, you can earn while you learn with us.

Work life balance: Don’t fancy the long haulage hours and overnight stays? If you are looking for a healthy work life balance Veolia is the place to be! The majority of our roles are early starts and early finishes, meaning you should be home before 3, possibly making that school run a lot easier!

Whether you’re kickstarting your career, or looking to gain invaluable skills and experience, our apprenticeship programmes offer the highest standard of training and development. You’ll also be joining a supportive culture with the opportunity to make an impact on the planet.

This year, we’ve launched a new skills development programme run by our Operational Training and Development team to support our recruited apprentices. We have 64 apprenticeship vacancies ranging in engineering, IT, communications and business administration, with opportunities available at all levels – from level 2, through to Masters degree apprenticeships at level 7.

What skills/experience is required?

To apply you will need to have at minimum of GCSE Grade 9-4 (or equivalent e.g. GCSE Grade A-C) in Maths and English. Some of the roles may also require you to have GCSEs in Science and IT/Technical subjects. If you meet that criteria then we want to hear from you!
