Civil Nuclear Constabulary Police Officers – Recruiting now Your Next Career Could Be Exceptional. Join The Civil Nuclear Constabulary.

Police Officers

The Civil Nuclear Constabulary (CNC) is an armed police force, keeping the nation safe from harm by securing the integrity of civil nuclear material. Our primary function is the protection of licenced nuclear sites not used wholly or mainly for defence purposes, and the safeguarding of nuclear material in the UK and elsewhere.

New recruits will enter on an annual salary of £23,723 rising to £26,479 on successful completion of their initial training course. On successful completion of two years’ probation it will rise to £28,018pa. Thereafter, salary will progress subject to satisfactory service.

Oportunities

We have a range of career opportunities for Police Officers in a variety of different teams based at nuclear sites. Whether you’re an experienced Police Officer or a new recruit, we’ll be able to offer you an opportunity that both tests your existing skills and enables you to develop new ones.

As well as opportunities within operational units at a number of nuclear sites, we also have a number of specialist teams that require specific expertise, such as dog handling, marine escorts, armed response or special branch. Once you’ve successfully completed your probationary training, you could apply to join one of these teams.

The facts: We operate in some remote locations and so you’ll need to live in close proximity to your allocated site. It’s also important to know that our officers work 12 hour shifts.

The opportunities: 16-week foundation training course, unique firearms training and the option apply for one of our specialist teams after 24-months service.

You’ll be required to achieve medical and fitness standards as part of the application process, and these must be maintained and demonstrated throughout your career with the CNC.

The Civil Nuclear Constabulary Team will be hosting a number of Insight events with Career Transition Partnership (CTP), at Resettlement Centres and venues across the UK during May and June. And we’d love it if you could attend. Full details and information on how to book are available via the CTP Events Calendar.
