Babcock re-signs Armed Forces Covenant The Whole Force by Design is the delivery of Military Capability through the combined efforts of Regular, Reserve, Civil Service and Contractor employees. Babcock has over 14,000 of its employees directly engaged with the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force in delivering the Whole Force.

Since the mid 1990’s Babcock has been embedded with the UK’s Armed Forces delivering engineering and support services as a true partner to Defence.

Babcock’s commitment to the military goes beyond their contract obligations. They are a leading employer of Reserves, Sponsored Reserves, Contractors on Deployment and Uniformed Cadet Instructors.

Babcock celebrated Reserves Day 2017 with Chief Executive Archie Bethel hosting the third Babcock Reserves Conference at the Royal Horseguards Hotel in London.

115 Reserves and staff from all four sectors were recognised for their support to Armed Forces and Babcock. Archie was joined by the Vice Chief of the Defence Staff, General Sir Gordon Messenger in signing Babcock’s recommitment to the Armed Forces Covenant.

An early recipient of the Defence Relationship Management, Gold Employers Recognition Award their Reserve Forces Policy and Armed Forces Covenant commitments include:

Our c150 Volunteer Reserves benefit from working both with the military, supporting skills and career development in both Babcock and their chosen Service.

In support of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME), Babcock DSG employees have a duel role undertaking maintenance, repair and overall (MRO) of the engines and transmissions for the Army’s main battle tanks and armed cars as both Babcock employee and deploying with the regular Army as Sponsored Reserves as required.

Following on from this success, which has been referred to as an exemplar of Sponsored Reserves, and recent MOD proposals on flexible engagement, Babcock is actively pursuing alternative, potentially shared employment models, including the creation of an Industrial Reserves in key skills areas including Nuclear, Logistics, Engineering and Cyber.
