Have you considered the events industry? Who are CSP and what do we do?

CSP stands for The Combined Services Provider. It also stands for Caring, Safe, and Professional, which are our core values.

We specialise in providing services to venues and static sites including car parking, internal and external traffic management, HVM (Hostile Vehicle Mitigation) solutions, security, stewarding, cash & audit and consultancy services. Whilst our range of services has grown, car parking/traffic management, HVM, and security/stewarding represent our key areas of expertise.

What would you be doing?

We’re currently looking for Operations Managers to manage events at the numerous entertainment and sporting venues we support, including: The O2, London ExCeL, Olympia, Jockey Club race courses in and around London including Ascot, Epsom Downs and Newmarket, Twickenham Stadium, various Premier League and Championship football clubs in London (and now Birmingham and Liverpool!), Lords Cricket Ground, golf tournaments at Wentworth, The British Open and The Ryder Cup, and other venues such as Beaulieu National Motor Museum, Forestry England locations, Duxford Airfield and Brooklands.

And that’s not to mention all the special events that we’ve supported over recent years – the Queen’s Funeral, the King’s Coronation, the London Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, G7 in Cornwall, the London to Brighton bike ride and the annual London Marathon!

What does the job involve?

As an Operations Manager, you’ll manage and deliver the traffic management and parking services for any number of these locations and events, or the security and stewarding services if that is your specialism - developing and nurturing strong, effective, professional relationships with the client and other key operational contacts along the way.

You’ll be managing a team of frontline zero-hour casual workers and have the opportunity to participate in future recruitment drives as we look to maintain and expand our pool of workers in line with the geographical growth of the company.

You’ll play a major role in identifying talent amongst the casual workforce, and in encouraging them to develop and become our managers of the future. You’ll also have responsibility for ensuring all operations are conducted in a safe manner and to both the client’s instructions and CSP’s standards; including risk assessments, method statements, accident and incident reporting.

Who would be suitable for these roles?

A wide-ranging and varied job requires a special type of person. We need you to have a disciplined, logical and structured approach to your work. We need you to have proven experience in the leadership, management and development of people, and you’ll need to take a flexible approach to working hours and be willing to work over weekends, particularly during our busy period over the summer months.

You’ll be professional, committed, reliable and trustworthy. No formal qualifications are required (above GCSE Maths and English) as we can train you in the vocational qualifications you’ll need.

What benefits does CSP offer as an employer?

In addition to a starting salary of £34,650 (reviewed annually), we offer a comprehensive package of employee benefits:

• A 37.5 hour working week – working 5 days out of 7, as required operationally
• Up to 25 days’ holiday (pro-rata – after qualifying service) plus Bank/Public Holidays
• Pension scheme with excellent employer contribution
• Private Medical Insurance (after a qualifying period)
• Life insurance at 4x salary
• Access to salary sacrifice schemes
• A range of valuable medical and practical support services through an external Employee Assistance provider

Why should you apply?

As a Service leaver or former member of the Armed Services, we guarantee an interview to you if you meet the main criteria of the role as set out above. We’re committed to your ongoing development and will enrol you in our management development programme.

Your structured approach, nurtured through your life and work in the services, will provide a solid foundation on which we can help you build. Don’t worry if you’ve never parked a car, managed a road closure or overseen a stewarding operation at a major venue – we can teach you most of that! What we’re interested in is your professionalism, the high standards you’ve been held to, your experience of managing teams of people, and your ability to spot and help develop talent for the future.

It’s hard work and we ask a lot – but it is incredibly rewarding work.
