SP Energy Networks is part of the ScottishPower Group of companies. We provide power on behalf of supply companies through a network of cables and power lines that we own and maintain.

About the role

The role of Craftsperson involves the construction, maintenance and repair of the electrical distribution network to required policy and standards, delivering all works to agreed productivity levels. You will carry out operational switching on the network as appropriately authorised and directed including fault finding and testing for effective fault management; ensuring delivery of unit cost requirements.

You will ensure that all site works are carried out safely, including acting as the nominated person in charge of safety for the duration of all works attended whilst ensuring all network operations are carried out in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance with company policy and safety rules.

This role involves a requirement to undertake and develop appropriate skills associated with work on substations, cables and overhead lines that make up the distribution network. The post-holder should deliver excellent customer service, striving to eliminate customer complaints as an on-site representative of the company, and perform stand-by duties as agreed with the company to allow for the restoration of customer supplies and network discrepancies impacting network security.

You will undertake programmed, post fault and fault switching on the HV and LV networks as appropriately authorised, including the operation of underground and overhead networks and the issue and receipt of appropriate safety documents as appropriately authorised

About you

We are looking for someone with experience in a relevant trade position, alongside City & Guilds Level 2 and a full valid driving licence. Ideally you will have sound knowledge of SPEN policies and procedures, knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation, plus the ability to use electrical test equipment.

We will also be looking for someone who is able to devise solutions to complex problems/challenges, and who can communicate effectively with customers and colleagues. You should also have experience of Contract & Service Level Agreement (SLA) management and general commercial & regulatory awareness.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Llandudno Junction (LL31 9BB) with a starting salary from £23,807 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications, plus other company benefits including Stakeholder Pension plan, training and development, generous annual leave and flexible benefits of your choice.
