Experience London’s Fast-Paced Insurance Industry

The Lloyd’s Military Network

Founded in October 2014, The Lloyd’s Military Network (LMN) is a formalisation of the ex-military and serving Reservists operating within the Lloyd’s community and Insurance Industry.

The LMN has a constitution based around three key components:
  1. Charitable coordination - The Lloyds Patriotic Fund and the British Legion Lloyd’s and City branch are our focus for charitable co-ordination.
  2. Networking – Providing a forum for the ex-military and serving reservists operating within the Insurance industry to meet and share ideas.
  3. Transition - Assisting those looking to transition into the Insurance industry by providing a platform for them to gain advice, experience and direction.

This is a two month programme supported by nine companies within the Lloyd's Market who take two candidates for one month each. There are typically two programmes that run each year.

It is widely recognised that ex-military personnel have the relevant employment experience and skill set to be an asset to the insurance industry, however, many employers do not want to take the risk of employing individuals who have no insurance experience. This programme is designed to address that perception of risk and to prepare candidates for roles within the industry.

The programme is open to all ex-military personnel and serving Reservists. Candidates are vetted and interviewed by the Lloyd’s Military Network, mainly to provide candidates with advice on general transition and specific insurance industry related matters. The network assesses the suitability of each candidate for a place on the scheme.

The format of the placement can be adjusted to suit the candidate’s needs and meet his or her aspirations. The programme runs twice a year with rough starting dates of February and September. The network works with the hosting companies to develop a meaningful programme. Candidates will not be paid during the process.

The LMN aims to provide as many high calibre ex-military candidates as can reasonably be accommodated by the participating companies, one of these could be you.
