A force for education Yorkshire Learning Providers is a regional membership body representing further education & skills providers across Yorkshire, whose aim is to support social mobility and inclusion through the promotion and enhancement of the local and regional skills offer.

What is the Further Education sector?

The Further Education (FE) sector supports all post-16 learning pathways from school leavers and apprenticeships to technical education and adult learning – catering for a wide variety of skills, levels, abilities, ambitions, careers, and opportunities. An inspiring, uplifting and fulfilling sector to work in, the ever-changing demand for skills from businesses means the opportunities to develop and gain new experiences really is never ending.

Why we want to bring Service leavers into the sector

Across Yorkshire we’re committed to ensuring our FE sector tutors, trainers and support staff represent the best of us across the region. Which is why we’re reaching out to the Armed Forces in a bid to bring the wealth of skills developed within military to the Further Education sector. We’ve already had lots of Armed Forces personnel transition into all levels of education, including tutors, trainers, leaders and engagement staff; and would love for you to meet these colleagues to help with your transition.

Why should you consider moving into FE?

With a plethora of roles available across the FE sector in Yorkshire, you could be anything from a motor vehicle tutor or trade trainer; to an apprenticeship assessor or member of support staff for those with additional support needs.

There’s also a lot of support available to help you with your transition, from the local colleges and training providers, our organisation, the CTP and local authorities. Between us, we can support you with identifying roles, making applications, introducing you to education leaders and organisations, and understanding more about the FE sector and apprenticeships in general.

So, when considering your next steps, remember that your skills and knowledge would be invaluable in supporting the development of young people and adults within an educational capacity.
