Calling all upcoming military Service leavers, veterans, cadet force adult volunteers and the families of those who serve: Are you thinking of a new career in the Southwest? Have you thought of the NHS?
The Armed Forces community offers a wealth of desirable and transferable skills that are highly valued here in the NHS. Many military roles map across well into our roles – and with over 350 career paths and a vast range of learning and development prospects, spanning a huge array of clinical and non-clinical roles – our NHS is so much more than ‘just a hospital’.
More than just a hospital event
This event, taking place online on Thursday 23 March 2023 between 11am and 1pm, will give you the opportunity to explore the many roles available, and identify, with guidance, your own transferable skills.
You’ll get an overview of the NHS career landscape and hear from members of the Armed Forces community who have made the transition into an NHS career, sharing how they did it and why it has worked well.
The national Step into Health programme team will also be on-hand to discuss how you can connect directly to NHS organisations for support in accessing employment opportunities, insight days, work placements and application support.
Then, in the transferable skills and strong job applications session, you’ll benefit from a demonstration of how to translate your military CV into one that can be better understood by civilian employers. There will also be advice on presenting a CV that includes regular moves and gaps, for the families of those who serve.
Finally, you’ll have the opportunity to connect directly with colleagues from different NHS organisations in the Southwest, to ask questions and listen to live discussions.
Hosted jointly by the Career Transition Partnership – official provider of resettlement to the Armed Forces – and Somerset NHS Foundation Trust, this virtual event will give you a better idea of what an NHS career could look like.
