From Army Intelligence to HMRC

Wayne’s Story
I felt that the Civil Service provided me with an opportunity to carry on as a public servant.
I currently have a really interesting role as a strategic intelligence analyst, developing assesments on risks and mitigations. Although I spent a large part of my Army career as an intelligence analyst, I also completed short periods in intelligence collection, HR, training delivery and security risk management. This breadth of experience undoubtedly helped me to understand the bigger picture and enabled me to progress. Although completely new to HMRC, I have been able to bring skills learned whilst working in other government departments.

I think that any Civil Service job is great for service leavers, especially those that have served a long time. There are many benefits for ex-service personnel joining HMRC, including military service counting as qualifying service for enhanced annual leave, flexible working arrangements and the Civil Service Pension.
