We are the UK’s tax and customs department.
We collect the money that pays for the UK’s public services and give financial support to people. Every year, we collect revenues from millions of individuals and from businesses of all sizes, which helps to fund schools and hospitals, build roads and infrastructure, and support communities and the economy. We need everyone to pay the tax that is legally due, no matter who they are.
We also pay and administer Child Benefit, Tax-Free Childcare, statutory pay and tax credits. We protect our citizens by enforcing the National Minimum Wage and Living Wage, we help keep our borders safe, and ensure that trade flows smoothly in and out of the country.
