Fujitsu Enhanced Learning Credit Scheme

Fujitsu Services is an established member of the Armed Forces Corporate Covenant and has pledged to demonstrate its concrete support for the Armed Forces community – serving or not. The Corporate Covenant has been designed to complement the Armed Forces Covenant and allows Fujitsu Services to express its support and commit to initiatives that enable such support.

Fujitsu have recognised that many ex-service personnel bring with them Enhanced Learning Credits which they have not used or may not have considered using following their transition into civilian life and a career in Fujitsu. As part of the Corporate Covenant Fujitsu are offering all Fujitsu employees who have served in the Armed Forces the opportunity to utilise their Enhanced Learning Credits to further their career within their community or if they desire (and subject to LM approval) to re-train themselves with a skill that would be applicable to another business stream or professional community within Fujitsu.

Fujitsu Offerings

Fujitsu adhere to the same criteria as the ELC scheme and offer the same benefits as the MoD. Under the Fujitsu scheme each eligible employee will be entitled to claim leave for one ELC claim per academic year for a total of up to 3 consecutive years – all MoD rules apply to the individual application process. As part of Fujitsu’s commitment to this scheme Fujitsu will provide the following:

1. Paid time off for the duration of course attendance - one claim per financial year
2. Any expenses incurred which would normally paid out under the guidance of UK & I policy
3. Exam resit costs (should it be necessary and at the discretion of the LM)

The scheme, developed with inputs from the Learning and Development team and the Defence and National Security community, was launched on Armistice day this year to recognise the UK & I employees within Fujitsu who have served in the Armed Forces. We recognise that many people who leave the Armed Forces may initially take time to find their true career path, Fujitsu offer an array of employment opportunities across multiple locations which some ex-service personnel may not have even considered prior to joining us. This scheme allows them to use their ELCs to either up skill in their current role or even change career completely within the company – many people within Fujitsu are on their second or third careers since leaving service and joining the company.

The scheme is endorsed at the highest level in the company and required changes to the company terms and conditions. Another step in our desire and commitment to make Fujitsu an employer of choice for Service leavers.
