Apprenticeships

The Amey Apprenticeship Programme offers high-quality training and development to individuals who are looking to build a long term career within Amey. We are committed to helping our Apprentices realise their full potential and we actively promote personal development; not only do our Apprentices gain industry recognised qualifications and on-the–job workplace experience they are also enrolled onto the Duke of Edinburgh’s Business Award . The DofE Award helps individuals develop skills and experiences that can be used in the workplace.

We are proud to work with our apprentices through a choice of three apprenticeship programmes:

Intermediate
Advanced
Higher

These schemes develop the specific knowledge and skills that we require, while ensuring that apprentices have a choice of career entry routes to help them achieve their own ambitions.

Graduate Programmes

Graduates who join Amey share a number of core qualities, qualities that are also found in Service Personnel: determination, ambition, passion and a desire to learn and develop.

At Amey we offer two Graduate programmes:

Management Development Programme

Designed for aspiring leaders, has two intakes - April and September. Applications are accepted from August to April.

Creating future leaders

It’s important to us to have a strong pipeline of individuals who will be capable of running our business in the future. Our Graduate Management Development Programme is one of the ways we ensure that this happens.

We provide the tools and support to progress into an operational or business management role at the end of the two year programme. You will experience three rotations around at least two of our industry sectors and geographies working in a project, operation and business commercial role to provide you with in depth experience of how such a complex organisation really works. You will be given experiences which will both stretch you and which you will find personally enriching.

This is complemented with a series of formal training events over the two years, covering personal development, business skills, people management and business improvement techniques. You will also get significant exposure to our senior business leadership team, be assigned a mentor and take part in a wide range of valuable networking opportunities. An international placement in Spain, USA, Australia or Qatar may also be available.Our primary aim is for you to be successful and grow your career with us.

Do you have a strong desire and passion for developing technical excellence in your chosen field? Then Amey’s Graduate Pathways could be for you. Our Graduate Pathways programmes start you on a journey to achieve your career goals in a challenging, dynamic and supportive work environment.

Working in a real role from day one, the initial two years will provide the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, providing valuable experience while developing your knowledge and skills. You’ll be encouraged to undertake a variety of job specific and technical training and build your wider business knowledge to develop your career.

Whichever scheme you choose, you can expect hands-on experience working alongside industry experts while you continue your professional learning and personal development.

Developing our future managers

In the last six years Amey has invested in our people, in management training and in how we identify and track talent for succession purposes for the more senior employees. As part of this, we are always looking for talented employees with the right attributes to become a great leader. These include strong communication skills, drive and initiative, a willingness to challenge the status quo and work outside of their comfort zone.

A structured development programme will help those selected for Talent Tracker to develop people management skills. This will include mentoring, development of a range of core skills and optional modules to give a boost in targeted skills such as IT.
