Why take this course?

The NEBOSH Health & Safety Management for Construction (UK) is aimed at supervisors, managers and those with a role under the Construction Design and Management regulations 2015 within the construction industry who are required to ensure that activities under their control are undertaken safely. Attendees will gain a knowledge of the main legal requirements relating to health & safety in UK construction work.

It is likely to prove useful for those concerned with the management of buildings who may need to ensure that contractors are working safely. The qualification is also appropriate for supervisors and managers working in other industries such as utilities, and even broadcasting, where temporary workplaces are a feature of their activities.

 

 

Is this the right course for me?

The NEBOSH Health & Safety Management for Construction (UK) covers the main legal requirements relating to health and safety in UK construction work, identification and control of construction workplace hazards, and the practical application of this knowledge. It is advisable, but not mandatory, that candidates do have an understanding of the basic practical aspects of the construction industry.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE:

The course lasts for 10 days on site at a CTP centre. All CTP courses follow NEBOSH guidelines on tuition time and students are expected to undertake significant private study. Details of study times are as follows:

  • 68 hours tuition along with significant private study

Quoted hours do not include assessment time, ie, sitting the Open Book Exam or completing the Closing Interview.

Qualifications

Candidates who achieve a pass in the Open Book Exam and complete the closing interview, will be awarded the NEBOSH Health & Safety Management for Construction (UK) qualification.

The NEBOSH Health & Safety Management for Construction (UK) has been updated to SCQF Level 7 training (equivalent to Level 4 on the RQF) from 2023, which will provide learners with recognition from the Construction Skills Certification Scheme, CSCS.

NEBOSH Construction Qualification holders are eligible to apply for the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Academically Qualified Person (AQP) card scheme.

Eligibility

NEBOSH Health and Safety Management for Construction (UK) is a standalone qualification and candidates are no longer required to attend the NEBOSH General Certificate course, although the NGC would be required by a potential Employer if you are considering a Health & Safety role. 

Candidates should note the assessment includes a requirement to write a short report in English and so should be qualified to at least level 2.

Course Content

This training will provide attendees with the knowledge, skills and understanding of Construction Health & Safety issues in the workplace.


This course covers the main legal requirements relating to health and safety in UK construction work, identification and control of construction workplace hazards, and the practical application of this knowledge. It is advisable, but not mandatory, that candidates do have an understanding of the basic practical aspects of the construction industry.

The course looks at everyday solutions for construction workplace health and safety issues. Service leavers who attend this training course will be able to:

  • advise on duties and manage construction risks under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015;
  • justify the need for health and safety improvements;
  • produce or contribute to a construction phase plan;
  • help your organisation to manage contractors;
  • positively influence health and safety culture and behaviour;
  • carry out a risk assessment of a construction site and manage a range of construction hazards;
  • recognise workplace changes and their impacts and understand how to minimise these impacts

Assessment:
The course is assessed via an Open Book Exam which will take place on a national scheduled date supplied by NEBOSH, and attendees will have 48 hours to complete their exam. This can be completed at home or any location where you have access to a PC or laptop.

Closing Interview – In order to deter and detect plagiarism or malpractice, NEBOSH require every Learning Provider to undertake a closing interview with candidates following submission of your assessments. Attendees will be required to attend a short video meeting with the course Tutor. You will be required to show ID and answer various questions relating to the open book exam.

A ‘Pass’ must be achieved to be awarded the Qualification The qualification grades are       Distinction: 75 marks or higher Credit: 65 - 74 marks Pass: 45 - 64 marks
