Gary Barber - Technical Support Manager, UK
“I previously served in the Royal Navy as a Weapons Engineer where I developed great engineering and leadership skills which have transferred perfectly into the Swisslog environment, and I am enjoying every minute. I’ve worked here for 4 years now and in that time, have worked with some amazing technology and people. Not only do Swisslog install and maintain automation, but we also design and manufacture it, so it’s a real turnkey operation and it’s great being a part of that.

"Everyone here has a voice and is heard, which enables huge amounts innovation, improvements and engagement. I’m extremely proud of being part of the Swisslog team, helping to shape the future of automated logistics, learning new skills and harnessing my current skillset.”

Alex Gray - Engineering Site Manager

“I served 8 years in the Army as Armourer in the REME. This was where I underwent my apprenticeship in engineering. Since leaving the Army I’ve found that Swisslog has been the best fit as a company to work for. I’ve been able to utilise and develop skills from my time in the Army as well as bringing in experience from my time in industry since leaving the forces. Swisslog is a forward-thinking company with a great team and a bright future.”

Hamish Greensmith - Engineering Site Manager

“All the training and skills you’ve learned while serving will easily be transferable. I know, as I served as an airframe technician in the RAF.

"It’s coming up to my 4th year with Swisslog, and my role has changed from site engineer to site engineering manager. Although they provide great systems and equipment, that doesn’t mean that things can’t be improved. I’m a firm believer in continuous improvement, and Swisslog will fully support you in achieving your goals.

"Maintaining an automated system requires a lot of hard work. The key aspects of a well-performing system are preventative maintenance and the sharing of knowledge. Anyone coming from an engineering military background will soon be up to speed thanks to the structure and systems that are in place. Working on automated equipment is no different from working on a ship, tank, or aircraft, really. It’s the number of systems working together to carry out a function. Like any piece of equipment, it’s about familiarising yourself with the kit.”
