Medical Discharges

For many Medical discharge can be a period of great anxiety and worry. During a time of such change which can impact on finances, housing and family whilst at the same time bringing to a close a forces career along with a way of life.

Normally resettlement can begin two years before leaving the forces. Medical Dischargees however may have as little as 90 days in which to complete their resettlement activity. With such a short time to make the transition into civilian life, careful planning is essential.

At CTP we are well equipped and experienced to assist clients to recognise their career options and to make practical decisions based upon their individual needs. Each of the nine UK centres and at the centre at Herford in Germany have their own designated consultant, specialising in medical discharges and possessing a wealth of knowledge and expertise. To ensure commercial awareness is at the forefront of the services provided, the consultants remain in constant touch with local employers and support agencies to ensure advice and guidance provided is up to date, factual and relevant to an ever changing job market.

The highest priority is provided for medical dischargees. On receipt of either a MoD Form 1173 or a call from the unit, the designated consultant will make immediate contact to get things started. Initially it is usual for the client to attend a Career Transition Workshop (CTW), followed by a meeting with a personal consultant. If on medical grounds this is not practical, a one to one consultation will be arranged immediately.

Whatever the situation, injury or illness you are enduring, whether you expect to work in the future, registering with CTP is your entitlement and resource not only up to discharge but also for two years after. CTP can and does make a difference.

Under MoD rules, anyone leaving the Forces under medical discharge is eligible for the Full Support Programme from CTP, regardless of time served.  Click here to see what is available.  To check the allowances and time you are eligible for go to the Entitlement Guides.
