"You need to put in the extra time and effort to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Don’t ever lose hope and remember it is ‘phase 1 day 1’ just like in basic training. I enjoyed my time in resettlement and I don’t know where I would be without CTP."

Ex-Lance Corporal Frank Taylor served in the Army for almost 12 years. During his Service, he visited Iraq, Afghanistan and Northern Ireland, and views these trips as one of his favourite aspects of Service life. In the Army, Frank gained a Level 2 NVQ in Telecommunications and believes that the most valuable transferrable skill developed during his Army career was learning to be disciplined and work hard to achieve his goals.

At the beginning of his career transition process, Frank attended a Career Transition Workshop; he says he found the course very insightful and particularly helpful in improving his CV for the civilian job market. It was at the CTP's South Central Employment Fair in February 2015 that Frank introduced himself to the head of the HR department at Flomatik, a UK-based Network Services company. As a result, Frank learnt that the company was currently recruiting Service leavers to work in telecomms roles, and was asked to submit his CV.

In June 2015, Frank was offered the job of Network Planner with Flomatik. In his role, Frank is in charge of planning for cabling within given residential areas that need television and phone lines. He also surveys, plans and checks the accounts of each project before the contractors can start their work. Whilst settling into the role, he found that his telecommunication training has provided him with all the skills needed, but says that this is nothing close tothe experience learnt on the job.

Reflecting on his time with CTP, Frank said:
