This is a very practical ‘hands-on’ course during which you will learn how to carry out basic plumbing work around the home. It takes place in our custom built workshop with each student having access to a dedicated area to carry out the practical tasks. It is taught by an experienced tradesman who is an expert in his field and can show you all the ‘tricks of the trade’ to achieve that professional standard.“For such a short course it exceeded my exceptions. This practical course takes place in our dedicated workshop and is delivered by experienced tradesmen. During the course you will cover the following topics:
- Health & Safety
- Materials – Introduction to materials and use of
- Introduction to different fittings including:
Yorkshire, Compression, Threaded Joints, PTFE. - Valves – Stopcock, Lever Valve, Gate Valve, Ball Valves
- Mains water – Stopcock, responsibilities
- Cold tank – Introduction to cold water systems
- Hot water – Introduction to hot water systems
- Introduction to waste pipe, traps, soil pipe
- Introduction to toilet systems
- Air Locks – causes and solutions
- Water Hammer – causes and solutions
- Introduction to guttering
- Shower installation
- Bath installation
- Basin installation
- Introduction to heating systems
Practical work involves hot and cold jointing, installation of toilet, shower and basin.
