Is this the right course for me?

This course is aimed at those Service leavers planning to work in a supervisory or managerial position that requires a broad understanding of the principles and practises of Health and Safety in the workplace. No previous Health and Safety experience is required.

Eligibility

The course is open to all Service personnel, but is particularly suitable for those Service leavers planning a second career in line management. Candidates may wish to visit www.iosh.co.uk for syllabus information.

Course Content

The 4 day course covers a wide range of topics including:

  • Introducing Managing safely
  • Assessing risks
  • Controlling risks
  • Understanding your responsibilities
  • Understanding hazards
  • Investigating incidents
  • Measuring performance

The end of course examination consists of a multiple choice examination and a workshop-based practical hazard identification report.

For those attending by virtual classroom, the multiple choice examination will be completed as normal, although from home on the final day of the course.

This qualification is ideally suited for a range of initial management positions which carry an oversight responsibility for Health and Safety. IOSH is suitable for employment in any industry sector.
