Why take this course?

Attend this course to gain the Driver Qualification Card (DQC), an essential requirement for anyone looking for employment as a driver of large goods vehicles. Receive 35 hours of periodic Driver Training as mandated by the EU's Certificate of Professional Competence requirements. You'll also gain the ADR certificate, for existing LGV license holders carrying goods that fall within the Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road Regulations.

Is this the right course for me?

Attendees must hold a current LGV licence, and have obtained acquired rights through having passed the LGV test prior to 10th September 2009 (or have passed their car driving test prior to 01 January 1997). Those who obtained a full LGV or car licence after these dates must complete parts 2 and 4 of the initial LGV driver training. Completion of this training will provide students with an initial Driver Qualification Card and also the ADR licence which will enable holders to driver commercial LGVs including carriage of hazardous goods such as fuel. For more information on the DCPC requirement see here.
Or for information on ADR see here.

Driver Certificate of Professional Competence and the ADR Certificate

Anyone wishing to attend the DCPC/ADR course should have passed their LGV tests prior to 10 September 2009. If you attained your LGV licence after this date you will not be able to complete your 35 hours of periodic training (Driver CPC) unless you have completed parts 2 and 4 of your initial LGV driver training or passed your car test before 01 January 1997. This is due to military exemptions. If in doubt, please speak with your Career Consultant.

If you already hold an in date ADR certificate you may attend this course with an understanding that:
  • If you have more than 12 months validity on your ADR Certificate you will be issued a new Certificate valid for 5 years from the date upon you take the Core Examination with CTP – not from the date upon which your current ADR Certificate expires
  • If you have less than 12 months validity on you current ADR Certificate then your new Certificate will be valid from the expiry date of your existing ADR Certificate
