The aim of the course is to provide the Service leaver with a range of practical skills relating to maintaining property.
It is taught by experts who also run their own businesses and can pass on tricks of the trade. It will suit Service leavers who want to undertake projects in their own homes as well as those looking at a future in property development. This course will give all the necessary skills to complete work to a high standard saving considerably on costs.
The course will cover:
- 3 day: Bricklaying and Concreting
Setting out/brickwork/ blockwork/ DPCs/ openings/lintels/foundations, paths and paving
- 2 day: Plastering
Internal undercoat plaster/external finishes render and pebble dash etc/skim coat plaster/ patch and repairs
- 3 day: Carpentry and Joinery
Use of hand and power tools/first and second fix/doors, skirting, architraves and locks
- 2 day: Plumbing
Heating systems/bathroom fit outs/guttering/ trouble shooting/repairs
- 3 day: Painting and Decorating
Preparation of surfaces (fillers etc)/painting techniques/paper hanging
- 2 day: Tiling
Setting out wall and floor tiles/cutting, fixing and grouting/repairs.
- All relevant Health and Safety.
All modules will include an introduction to the tools and materials used in the various sectors and concentrate on practical tasks relating to maintaining and finishing constructions.
Internal certificate of attendance.
Right Management reserves the right to cancel and/or amend course dates, times, contents and venues as listed on this website. Every effort will be made to give the Service leaver as much notice as possible and a reasonable course alternative or alternatives may be suggested, if possible. If this is not possible or the alternative(s) is/are not acceptable to the Service leaver, Right Management, who deliver all non-contract courses listed, may refund in full the total amount paid to date for non-contract funded courses, or, in the case of MOD Contract Funded courses, in agreement with the MOD, the Service leavers IRTC grant will not be notionally reduced.
