The aim of the course is to provide the Service leaver with four Level 2 Health & Safety qualifications which are much in demand by employers and which will enhance CVs. They will benefit Service leavers who may not have any qualifications of this nature and provide the basis for further H&S training before progressing onto higher levels. They are applicable across a wide range of employment sectors.

Course Content
The course is made up of four modules; as follows:
  • QA Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace
This course is designed to ensure that all employees are aware of their own responsibilities and that of the employer, customers and contractors. The learning outcomes will cover widespread topics in the field of health and safety and provide an informative platform that develops knowledge in the subject.
  • QA Level 2 Award in Fire Safety
This course allows Learners to develop their basic fire safety awareness. It is particularly useful for employees who are to have a designated responsibility for workplace fire safety, ie: fire wardens or fire marshals, and provides the knowledge that will allow them to carry out duties relating to fire safety and emergency procedures.
  • QA Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling
The course introduces candidates to the hazards and risks involved in manual handling and outlines what to expect from a manual handling risk assessment. It enables employees to contribute to the development of safer manual handling methods and tasks in the workplace.
  • QA Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (QCF)
This course is especially suited for nominated first aiders in smaller, low risk working environments. The content of this course provides basic life-saving first aid and workplace health and safety regulations. As employers are expected to provide suitable first aid provision in the workplace, this qualification is highly recognised. It will include subjects that may be less familiar to Service leavers such as diabetes, epilepsy and stroke etc and will ensure understanding and allow sufficient time for the written and practical assessments. It will also include an introduction to the Automated External Defibrillator (AED), which is not typically part of the course but is a useful introduction and will enhance the course.

Qualifications Awarded
Courses are certified by Qualsafe Awards (QA) and result in:

QA Level 2 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace
QA Level 2 Award in Fire Safety
QA Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling
QA Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (QCF).
