Aim of the Course 
To provide theoretical and practical training in all aspects of installation work for both individual home installations and reception/relay systems, allowing students to enter the growing communications industry on either an employed or self-employed basis.

Satellite TV reception:
Satellite locations
Dishes and LNBs
Satellite receivers
Satellite measurements
Advanced receiving systems
Types of encryption.
Sky satellite reception:
Sky hardware
Receiver menus
Receiver programming
Adding extra programmes
Telephone connections
Troubleshooting.
Broadband data systems:
Data principles

Signal distribution:
Within the home

Qualifications Awarded 
Candidates sit the Confederation of Aerial Industries (CAI) assessment test that is accredited prior learning towards an NVQ2 qualification, and a CSS skills card exam.

Employment Opportunities 
The course is a mix of theory and practice and is suitable for students with no experience who wish the enter the telecommunications industry and for those who have experience but want to know more about the theoretical and some practical aspects of signal reception and installation. Students on the course who achieve a distinction in the CAI exam have their names published in “Feedback” the trade journal of the CAI along with the areas they are settling down in.

Further Details 

Cable Element
Candidates may choose to undertake by open learning whilst on the course the SCTE (Society of Cable Television Engineers) Module 1 exam for cable installers.  Successful students receive an SCTE certificate recognised by the cable industry and fulfil the underpinning knowledge requirements of NVQ Level 2.

Every effort will be made to give the Service leaver as much notice as possible and a reasonable course alternative or alternatives may be suggested, if possible. If this is not possible or the alternative(s) is/are not acceptable to the Service leaver, Right Management, who deliver all non-contract courses listed, may refund in full the total amount paid to date for non-contract funded courses, or, in the case of MOD Contract Funded courses, in agreement with the MOD, the Service leavers IRTC grant will not be notionally reduced.
