Aim of the Course 
This course offers training in the design of electrical wiring systems to the Wiring Regulations 17th Edition, for those wishing to enter the Electrical Contracting Industry.

BS: 7671 – 2008: Requirements for Electrical Installations.

  • Overview of BS 7671:2008
  • Part 1:Scope, object and fundamental principles
  • Part 2:Definitions
  • Part 3:Assessment of general characteristics
  • Part 4:Protection for safety
  • Part 5:Selection and erection of equipment
  • Part 6:Inspection & Testing
  • Part 7:Special Installations or locations
  • Appendices 1-15.


Qualifications Awarded 
Candidates will sit the City & Guilds 2382 qualification, which is a Level 3, 60 question GOLA multiple-choice test lasting a maximum of 2 hours.

A calculator, coloured pens, page markers and highlighters will be required plus the following:

Students must purchase the required literature prior to starting this course. A list of books required for each course along with the current RTC prices can be found on the course price lists.  Books from the RTC can be purchased on the first morning of the course but if you wish to purchase prior to attendance they are also available from good bookshops or from the publications department of the IET (Tel No: 01438 767328).  

Please note: Students without the required reference book will be unable to complete the course.

Every effort will be made to give the Service leaver as much notice as possible and a reasonable course alternative or alternatives may be suggested, if possible. If this is not possible or the alternative(s) is/are not acceptable to the Service leaver, Right Management, who deliver all non-contract courses listed, may refund in full the total amount paid to date for non-contract funded courses, or, in the case of MOD Contract Funded courses, in agreement with the MOD, the Service leavers IRTC grant will not be notionally reduced.
