On 19th March 2015, York Racecourse hosted the 2015 North East CTP Employment Fair.
The event attracted over 400 Service leavers and featured over 70 employers, recruiters and Service support organisations who were on hand to provide advice and guidance to those in attendance. CTP employment fairs are open to both serving military personnel and veterans, so attendees may be job-ready and applying for current vacancies, or still preparing to leave the Armed Forces and using the event as a means of researching the career options available, building networks, identifying suitable organisations and establishing where their skills and experience can be utilised.
Employers in attendance at the event represented a wide range of industry sectors and included both local and national organisations such as Amazon, GE Oil & Gas, HP Enterprise Services UK, Nuffield Health, Sellafield, Story Contracting Limited and Siemens.
One Service leaver commented:
“Very good event, exhibitors were very receptive and informative.”
The event also gave Service leavers the chance to attend short presentations from selected companies. The Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) gave a presentation about the industry, Persimmon homes provided an overview of the ‘Combat to Construction’ traineeship, and Amazon presented about the organisational structure and current opportunities.
One employer commended, “It’s been an excellent day; will do again.”, whilst another highlighted the “high standards of people/candidates – well prepped and eloquent.”
