The head of HR at a leading technology company has advised companies to take advantage of the rare skill sets that ex-military professionals possess.
In an interview with leading HR publication HR Grapevine, Mark Norton, Vice President and Head of HR EMEA at Symantec says “I’m a great advocate of looking at ex-military individuals or people who have been trained in that way because they do bring with them a set of inherent skills.”
Norton, who previously served on the Army Officer Selection Board during his time in the military, cites leadership, 'delivering clarity out of complexity' and working in complex environments as three key transferable skills that ex-military personnel bring to the civilian workplace.
