Application Forms & Interviews

The application process will vary dependent on the role you have applied for. If your application is successful you will be invited to interview. You should prepare for this by carefully looking through the job description, person specification and thinking about how you meet the requirements. The interviewer will ask questions about your CV, application and role you are applying for. Our interviews are normally competency based and this means you will be asked a set of behavioural questions.

If you are unsure on how best to answer behavioural, example based questions the STAR technique is a great way of adding structure to your answers in the following way:

The Situation – set the context for your answer. For example ‘I was due to start an event for 300 people but when we tried to turn on the laptop the events venue provided it was not working.’

The Task - describe what was expected of you. In this example ‘I had to find another laptop we could use as speakers were coming along with presentations.’

The Action Taken – explain what you did. ‘I spoke to the event venue to see if they could source another laptop. I then also asked a colleague who had not left the office yet to bring a spare one with her.’

The Result – illustrate how well you dealt with the situation. ’We had a backup laptop to use for the first hour of the event which was slower that the one they eventually provided and the rest of the event went well with positive feedback.’
