From RAF to Cloud Sales Enablement Lead

Clive's Story

“If you are transferring from the armed forces into civilian life my guidance would be to have a clear view of what you want to do and use this to ensure that you get the right experience and qualifications prior to entering the civilian job market. It is a harsh environment but use your resilience and tenacity to put you in the right place at the right time.”

What I Do

I provide guidance and support to deal teams across Europe, Africa and Latin America to assist them in getting the best from our Cloud Offerings and assist them in ensuring we can meet and exceed our clients’ requirements and expectations.

My Career So Far

I previously worked in the Royal Air Force for 16 years. After this I worked as an IT Manager for a small Housing Association for three years before joining an IT Services company which eventually saw me TUPEing into Accenture.

A Day in My Life

An early morning call with Australia followed by a round of calls, meetings and emails leading to a written proposal to a client. The afternoon will continue with calls as the US come on line maybe ending with a call to a West Coast colleague.

How my previous experience has helped me at Accenture

The need to understand priorities was key in my military life and this has definitely allowed me to transition into civilian life more easily. There are differences but at the end of the day it comes down to delivering what you have been asked to deliver in the way it is needed. The pressure that exists in the Civilian workplace is no different to that found in the military – the key is to approach it in the right way with the right attitude.
