Have you thought about Auditing as a Career? Lead Auditors conduct audits to review an organisations’ policies and procedures, reporting back to management about the effectiveness of the overall quality system. They’ll also develop action plans to suggest improvements that should be made in response to their findings.

The role will often involve home working and visits to company sites to perform checks, and will require you to be adaptable, analytical and a good communicator. It’s also useful to have a good understanding of ISO requirements, as this will help with the implementation or improvement of a quality management system.

Average salaries can be £45-55k.

This five-day course is ideal for anyone who is seeking employment as a Quality Management Systems Auditor, as it meets the training requirements for registering to the IRCA’s QMS Auditor Scheme, a membership recognised worldwide. Successfully passing the course enables you to apply to the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI) at Practitioner (PCQI) Grade.

  • The course will cover the following areas of expertise:
  • Audit planning and preparation
  • Audit performance – conducting interviews, following document trails, process and procedural auditing
  • Audit reporting and feedback techniques
  • How to lead an audit team
Attendees will be trained in the following:

  • Principles of Quality Management
  • ‘Plan, Do, Check, Act’ Methodology
Important information

The course is delivered over 5 days at Catterick, Plymouth or Tidworth, and there are no specific entry criteria, although it does require an element of evening study and exam preparation.

Health & Safety Lead Auditor OHSMS ISO 45001:2018

This 5-day course is ideal for any Service leaver preparing for a career in Health and Safety Auditing, especially if you possess knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act, and/or an interest/experience in auditing.

Upon passing this Level 3 course, you can register as an auditor, lead auditor or principal auditor, with the International Register of Certificated Auditors (IRCA) under the OHSMS Auditor scheme.

The course will cover the following subject areas:

  • Occupational Health & Safety Awareness
  • Auditor skills and registration
  • Overview of Health and Safety legislative requirements
  • Auditing techniques and Risk Assessment Methods
  • Audit case study and role-play
  • Non-conformity categorisation and reporting
  • Audit planning, execution, reporting and follow-up
Important information

This course is also delivered over 5 days at Catterick, Plymouth or Tidworth. There are no mandatory prerequisites, but knowledge of the Health & Safety at Work Act and the principle underpinning regulations is strongly recommended. Previous completion of NEBOSH or IOSH courses would also be advantageous.

Environmental Management Systems ISO 14001:2015 Lead Auditor

This 5-day training covers the requirements of the ISO 14001:2015, implemented by many organisations, and is ideal for anyone interested in Environmental Sustainability. You’ll learn how to audit an environmental management system for continual improvement, and understand the role that processes such as internal auditing and management review, play in the continual improvement cycle.

The course will cover the following areas of expertise:

  • Ecological Systems, Human impacts, Ecosystem services, Pollution, Climate Change, Sustainability, the role of NGO’s
  • ISO 14001:2015 Structure & Principles and Requirements
  • Audits – First party, Second Party, Third Party
  • Managing an audit from initiating, preparing and conducting the audit to conclusions, completing the audit and follow up activities.
  • The Lead Auditor role and responsibilities
Important information

As with the previous two courses, this is delivered over 5 days at Catterick, Plymouth or Tidworth with no entry criteria required. However, it is strongly recommended that students have a basic understanding of current primary environmental legislation and the supporting regulations.
