McIntyre Compliance Services (MCS) is a leading national supplier of electrical, fire safety and security services for the Social Housing sector. With its HQ in Peterborough and a large number of employees being field-based engineers across England, MCS’s purpose is to be the trusted partner for compliance safety services in the social housing sector.
Over the past year MCS has seen the arrival of its new CEO, Graeme Taylor; who himself spent 13 years in the British Army as an Avionics Engineer, working in the UK and overseas before leaving Service to pursue a career in the Facilities Management sector.
"I joined the British Army as an engineering apprentice in 1993 at the age of 17, serving with the Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers as an Avionics Engineer. Following operational tours of Bosnia, Kosovo and Iraq, I decided to leave the Army at the end of 2005 and pursue a career in engineering civvy street.
"I’ve used the skills and leadership experience gained throughout my time with the Army to progress in my chosen civilian career, holding senior management roles in some of the largest facilities management companies across the UK and Europe; providing project and engineering solutions to clients such as BT, RBS, Barclays and the United States Airforce."
Graeme’s career path has put focus on the Company’s recruitment drives to support local communities by welcoming those who’ve recently gone through resettlement.
Being in the Social Housing sector, MCS has been fortunate enough to operate in a resilient market, while going through an exciting period of change. Through expanding our engineering community across the Midlands, South, South East and South West, we’re now better equipped to achieve our purpose by welcoming a variety of different skill-sets into the business:
- Electrical Test and Inspection Engineers
- Fire Alarm Servicing Engineers
- Fire Alarm Installation Engineers
- Fire Extinguisher Technicians
- Fire Design and Commissioning Engineers
"I attended the Domestic Electrical Installation Full Scope course with the CTP at the Aldershot workshop in November 2017, after completing over 22 years in the Army. I was lucky enough to get a job offer from McIntyre in January 2018 - 1 week before I officially left the Army. I was paired alongside an electrician to gain some onsite experience and to ensure I was competent. We tested and conducted remedials on both domestic and communal installations, worked on single and three phase installations, conducted rewires, lighting upgrades and replaced consumer units. After 7 months I was given my own van and an apprentice to mentor, a process I was not alien to. This encouraged me to keep learning to ensure that I gave my apprentice the correct information/guidance through the first stages of their apprenticeship.
"In November 2019 I returned to Aldershot and conducted the 2391-52 Inspection and Testing course. The experience that I’d gained throughout my time at McIntyre put me in good stead and I was one of only 2 people to pass the course. McIntyre also put me through the 18th edition wiring regulations course, and it’s through this development that I have become a Qualified Supervisor, responsible for providing advice and direction to fellow engineers. McIntyre has assisted me throughout my personal development and I intend to continue this by conducting the level 4 2396 Design and Verification of Electrical Installations course in the near future."

MCS also welcomes Service leavers into office-based roles and is proud to have employees with us today who have joined following resettlement:
"I left the Royal Air Force in 2006 after 9 years’ service as a Mechanical Transport Driver. After spending so many years out and about, driving and operating all manner of vehicles and equipment, I knew that I wanted to do something completely different when I returned to civilian life. With my Service leave date set, I began to look for a resettlement placement.
"McIntyre Electrical was recruiting due to the recent growth of the business. I applied for a role as an Office Assistant and was offered the role. My resettlement period was then arranged and I began my new career. Changing from military Service to civilian life was a big step, but McIntyre Electrical was brilliant in helping me to transition; taking care of all of the paperwork and my initial training needs, as well as my continued professional development. McIntyre has grown significantly since I started with them 15 years ago and I am proud to be a part of a company that continues to value and support our service personnel”
- Commercial Administrator
