Category: Recruitment Publish date: 30/06/2021

Gigaclear - transforming rural communities across the UK – Fibre Engineer Opportunities Get involved in the building and maintenance of our specialist state-of-the-art fibre network. We now cover more than 22 counties across the South West, the Midlands and South East.

Broadband changes lives by boosting businesses and transforming communities through reliable access to the internet. Our ground-breaking digital connectivity gives people the freedom to work and play at home, while also helping companies thrive, grow and compete.

From our first network built in Appleton, Oxfordshire, we’re now proud to be the leading rural full fibre broadband provider in the UK; offering the fastest connections to over 200 rural communities across the country. And we now provide world class speeds to over 65,000 rural homes and businesses, with a growing broadband customer base.
We also build and operate the UK’s largest fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) network, which simply means we bring ultrafast broadband right up to the boundary of your property, just ready to be connected.

So why not join the other ex-military members of our team? Our Head of Operations and one of our Operations Managers are former Royal Electrical & Mechanical Engineers, while our Engineers include Communication Specialists from the Signallers.

VACANCIES

During 2020 we started building our direct labour workforce: teams of Installation Engineers and Fibre Field Engineers to carry out our customer installs, fibre fault fix (fibre testing and splicing), minor civils correctional works, and future network builds. With the sole purpose of “raising the bar” in terms of customer journey, health & safety, standards, quality and compliance.

The team now sits at circa 60 Engineers and we’re looking to add another 40.

All joiners undertake a 10-week training pathway: a mix of classroom training with our internal trainers, on-the-job shadowing with experienced fibre engineers, plus external training to achieve the necessary sector accreditations (Openreach PIA, NRSWA, etc).

Along with training and progression opportunities (some employees have already progressed via promotions into Project Delivery Lead, Designer / Surveyor and Operational Management roles), our benefits also include 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays (with the opportunity to buy more days), pension contributions matching up to 8%, as well as overtime opportunities to boost earnings.

And we’re currently looking to add to our teams by recruiting the following:

Installation Engineers – in the Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Essex areas

Fibre Field Engineers – in the Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Essex areas.
