Why should Service leavers join us?

Atos has its own Armed Forces Network (AFN) that supports veterans, reservists, family members and all employees wishing to show support for the Armed Forces community.

Atos have proudly held a Gold Award since 2016 for the Armed Forces Covenant. An employer recognition scheme for businesses and organisations who wish to demonstrate their support for the Armed Forces community and uphold the principles of the covenant. Atos pledged to recognise the wealth of skills and experience of the Armed Forces community.

We run various initiatives to support the armed forces community both within Atos and those external to our company. Most recently, the Armed Forces Network has set up a mentoring scheme, where Atos employees mentor Service leavers; helping them navigate civilian life and providing advice and guidance on the job market within or external to Atos. An example of where this has worked brilliantly can be seen below.

Atos would be thrilled to welcome more Service leavers to our workforce who can bring all of the knowledge and skills that are unique to the Armed Forces community.

Case Study - Mentorship Programme

Leigh was an ex-Army Officer and at the time of contact was coming to the end of his service, looking for a job that would allow him to remain living in Germany once leaving the forces. Leigh was introduced to Mark Donovan, a Client Executive Partner in Health and Life sciences, an ex-RN Engineer Officer who is the chair of the Armed Forces Network. Leigh wanted to apply for a job in Atos as a Cyber Security Consultant and was looking for help in preparing for the interview as well as advice on transitioning to a civilian business. Mark introduced Leigh to Steve Bishop who helped mentor him through this process.

Outcomes, benefits and learnings

Leigh
  • Learnt how to apply his service experience and specialist cyber skills and was well prepared for all stages of the interview process
  • Leigh was offered a Global Cybersecurity Consultant role in Atos – starting later this year
