CityFibre to bring full fibre internet to 8 million premises by 2025

Category: Recruitment Publish date: 03/11/2020

CityFibre to bring full fibre internet to 8 million premises by 2025 CityFibre is investing £4 billion to bring full fibre connectivity to up to 8 million premises across 100 UK towns and cities. As well as providing gigabit speed services for homes and businesses, our networks already serve thousands of critical healthcare, education and community sites across the UK. This includes hospitals, GP surgeries, care homes, community buildings, schools and council offices.

Where are the opportunities?
Our priority is to provide local jobs for people who live in or near the 100 towns and cities identified for rollout. The screening process will match individuals with job opportunities that best suit their individual circumstances. Full training is provided and once complete, each candidate will be equipped with strong earning potential and long-term career opportunities in a sector that is critical to the UK’s future.

Who are we looking for?
We need thousands of people to help build our networks and be part of upgrading the UK’s digital infrastructure. Opportunities are available for experienced construction workers and those seeking career changes and training opportunities – including veterans and reservists. We’re working especially hard to attract more women and individuals from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds, both of which are significantly under-represented in the construction industry.

What types of roles are available?
Full training will be provided for roles including aerial fibre operatives, underground cabling operatives, fibre engineers and civils operatives. Jobs are being created within CityFibre’s growing pool of network construction partners. Each construction partner is responsible for delivering against contracts that will run for up to 7 years. This means long term opportunities for those who complete the selection and training process.

Our programme partners
We’re working with established employment, recruitment and training partners to deliver this programme. We’re also talking to local authorities and specialist organisations, including the Department of Work and Pensions, the Construction Industry Training Board, Veterans’ Employment Transition Support and the Women’s Engineering Society.

We welcome reservists and veterans
CityFibre has pledged its support to the Armed Forces Covenant (AFC) and actively encourages reservists and veterans to bring the skills they’ve acquired during their military careers to help build Britain’s full fibre future.

“Reservists and veterans have already served their country exemplarily, and this is another chance to help the UK by supporting in the delivery of a national infrastructure programme that will bring the transformative benefits of full fibre connectivity to communities and businesses around the country. Former forces personnel are already a core part of our team and we look forward to welcoming many more.” Greg Mesch, CEO, CityFibre
